Bill Caldwell honed his financial skills during a year spent at the U.S. Department of Army Audit Agency and a successful career at the accounting firm, Bond Beebe. An astute businessman, he recognized that his generalist approach to accounting was an asset to small business entrepreneurs, so in 2002 he opened the doors to his accounting practice in Bethesda, Maryland. Prior to earning his B.A. in Business and Accounting from University of Minnesota, Bill had a successful career as an executive chef in Minneapolis. He was certified as a public accountant in 1988 after passing the CPA exam. A voracious reader, Bill stays current with U.S. tax law and its implications for taxpayers. On average, he completes 40 hours of continuing education each year, which has enabled him to remain current in all areas of small business and individual taxation, as well as to specialize in international tax law.An outdoors enthusiast, Bill sails a 27-ft. sloop in the Chesapeake Bay. He enjoys international travel and in 2011, he participated in a trade mission to India with Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, along with other business leaders from across the state. Currently, Bill is learning to become fluent in Spanish.
“Many large accounting firms are dedicated to clients in big business, but are somewhat less accessible to small businesses,” says Bill Caldwell. “Caldwell & Company supports small businesses, their owners, and independent professionals who can benefit from tax planning, estate planning, and other financial counsel they may not otherwise receive.”
A leader in the accounting community, Bill is a past president of the Maryland Estate Planning Council of Suburban Maryland, a member of the American Institute of CPAs and its Tax Division special interest group, and a member of the Maryland Society of CPAs.
